The Sony-GeoHot lawsuit has been in the news for quite a long time now. Geohot is a 21 year old hacker, George Hotz, who has made it hot for Sony by jailbreaking its Playstation3 and by making the tools available publicly. Sony filed a lawsuit against GeoHot. In a decision given last year in July, the US government gave the ruling that the iPhone jailbreaks were legal if they were not pirated.
